Flashback Friday!

Seriously folks, that's a throwback for ya.
Kadir is a little over one years old in this picture.  So it's 15 years ago.  Carazy.  Haikeem looks so young!
I have braids and baby fat cheeks, don't u just wanna squeeze 'em?

New parents. New everything.
Could the picture be any more cheesey.  I still love it.

Haikeem's nephew sent this to him a few weeks ago.
This same nephew called me on Saturday night out of the blue, for no reason at all.  Just to say, "Hi Aunt Tiffany"

That's about all he gets to say, cause then I ask 100 questions so he never feels awkward for calling me and knows it's always always welcome.
How are you?
Where are you?
Whatcha doing?
How much do you miss me?
How's school?
Do you like your teachers?
Whats your favorite subject?
Where's your Mom?
When are you coming up?

Haikeem was pretend jealous.  He wants to be the cool family member but I seem to be winning.  He called his nephew back and said, "Man, you can't be calling my wife!"

That's when he found this picture in his phone from his nephew.

We are still cleaning up from the week with no power.  I was hoping to do something festive for the mantle, but was just happy to be able to get clean laundry.

No excuses and definitely not complaining, just being honest.

Here and Here are two very pretty free downloads if you need some extra pretty at your home for Turkey Day or something to keep the kiddos busy.
So much to be Thankful for, sometimes I well up when I think about  it.  I've been blessed.

Thanks for dropping in.

The lights are on inside, but nobody's home.

So the power outage somehow zapped our fridge.
Lights are on inside, but it won't get cold.
Very odd and hopefully repairable. (Is that a word?)

We still had the coolers around so I promptly had Chalana run to our local Wawa (convenience store) and grab ice.

Quick look through the fridge and I moved all the raw meats, milk, mayo, creamer.  Moved the cooler out to deck for the coolest cool.
And we're good.
We're ahead of the game. No more waste, food is saved.
Yes.  I'm a local hero.

The next morning, Haikeem calls me at work.

"Hey, the fridge is still not cooling.  We can just put stuff in the garage fridge until they schedule someone to come out."

Yep.  I completely forgot about the garage fridge.  I only see it practically everyday.  It's 8 feet from the kitchen, in front of my car, in the garage. It's older than 2 of my 3 children.  It's from my first home.

How many of you keep an extra fridge, just in case?  I'm still shaking my head, can't believe I messed this one up.  Only $5 cost in ice...but it's the principle.  Don't you agree.

But let's be honest, how many people have an extra refridgerator?!  Apparently we do.  None of it makes sense to me.  I think mentally I planned on selling it, or giving it away to someone who needs it.

And now Haikeem's argument will be - But she's earning her keep!

What say you?

The little engine that could...

That my friends, is the generator that helped make living with no power tolerable.

It brought us hot water and some electricity.

On Friday, our neighbor came over and lit the pilot for the fireplace, which helped dramatically.

So really, it wasn't that bad, inconvenient but not extreme.  Not everyone has those advantages.

Our electric was restored at midnite on Saturday (into Sunday).  My faith never waivered and today our area is 99% back in business.  Due to some hard-working individuals, that I wish I could have over for dinner.

We spent most of yesterday settling right back into our spoiled ways.  TV, cable, tivo, wifi, lighting, computers, microwave, stove, washer/dryer, all those fabulous amenities.

And as a further treat to myself...

This guy.  Good God.  Man they don't make 'em like that everyday.

Flight. See it, I was speechless, on the edge of my seat intense.
It both is and is not (hard to explain) what the previews lead you to believe.

And Thank you Thank you Thank you - for thinking of us, we are all well, humbled and thankful.  There are so many still without, keep your thoughts and prayers going.

Last nite marked 48 hours without power. Ouch.

But somehow, I can't bring myself to complain when I had off work for 3 days with pay and most importantly my family is all safe and sound.

I have everything I need and I hope you are yours are fairing the same.

Be safe.
