/////skateboard b/////

the obligatory birthday undergarments and socks, oh and axe (teenage boys love that crap)

then the wish list. lakai and neff. ever heard of this stuff? I hadn’t. but he was happy. so I was happy.

(see me in the mirror, still in bed, in my bonnet, ha!! it’s 6:30a, he asked for an early wake up)

I found this cake mix at the market and it’s much faster than working it from scratch – and there’s nothing artificial. He chose the chocolate one though, I threw out that box, whoops.

This frosting is so so good and easy too.  confectioners sugar, butter, vanilla paste and a little milk.  but who has vanilla paste on hand?  I just use vanilla extract.

does he have a lil Mike Ealy swag, or is that just me as his mom? or is it the hair?

It is truly an honor and a pleasure to be his Mom.  Khari has a heart of gold, he is definitely the kid who goes for the laugh.  He loves to just be outside, allllll day, any sport, any activity, he’s in.  When the kids knock, he gets his chores done in 1/2 the time.  And he is so charming, I don’t think he understands how much charisma he is packing just yet, but one of his teachers hinted at it last week and it made his day (mine too).

Khari was having such a hard time focusing in school (the first 7 years!) but he has really come around this year, and shown great improvement, so hold patient Mom’s, slow and steady wins the race.

We’re so proud and happy for him, when I woke up yesterday, my first thoughts were prayers for my son, so thankful to see him grow.  I just love him so.  My baby boy, Khari Haikeem, skateboad b…muah, muah, muah!  My cup runneth over.

Thanks for dropping in.

Chemistry, drama & eye-candy

Really, I can't say enough about it.

I was so pleasantly suprised by the film and it topped the industry this weekend, coming in at #1, What What!

Word is Hollywood didn't see that $33M coming, y'all showed up!!

I have been a buzz about it since Friday nite.  But coming to work today and chatting it up again with co-workers just made me even more excited for it's success.

My favorite part about the movie without giving any spoilers, is the professionalism of the film.  The wardrobe, no street gear, no hoochie momma dresses, the men are always dressed.  And they are YUMMY, do you hear me? YUMMY!

And there is something there for the men as well - the woman, not catty, very very cute and classy.  I personally came home itching to get Taraji's haircut, it is on point.  Love her.

I am already plotting on getting the DVD, and I couldn't tell you the name of the last movie I purchased.

Don't get me wrong, the movie is not gonna get any Oscar nods, but for me it transcends race and gender.  It's a movie about relationships between men and women, without being preachy, without being racial, it's really about being real.  And Kevin Hart is there for chuckles.

Go check it out!  And the book is good too, borrow it from your library, I did.

Thanks for dropping in.

Sunday breakfast

Pancakes have become our Sunday morning staple.  We love syrupy breakfasts, pancakes, french toast, mmmmmm.

Until you forget you’re outta syrup and you have a stack already cooked.  Not to mention how many times you’ve watched puddles left on the plate go to waste.

I found an online recipe, it’s pretty much sugar water, (I adjusted it a bit, I also add a tsp of vanilla extract) - it works for us.  I love maple, but my kids don’t quite understand the value, and hovering over them while they poor, well that’s just wack.  So, until then, it’ll be homegrown.

Enjoy your Sunday and let me know if you try it.

Let them eat cake! or brownies…

every week at the market, I don’t get baked goods, cause ‘we can make this for soo much cheaper at home” and “it will taste better and be better for you”

but do we ever bake the goods? heck no.  pathetic, I know. bad mommy.

I asked Khari to move around so I could try to get rid of the blur and figure stuff out on the camera.  but what the heck was kya doing? vogue?americas next top KID model?  I didn’t even notice it at the time.  she cracks me up.

if you grease the silicone muffin pans, crunchy edges for all your brownies. yummmmmy.

mommy tip! buy the kids all the stuff you don’t like, less temptation.  pathetic right? I know…but a moms gots to do what a moms gots to do.

Cold Chillin.

goodwill price tag still on the jar. classic.

been crafting and trying to remember to take pictures.  I made these, very easy and cute too. quick projects are the best.

turkey with arrow

look really closely, over by the trees. there is a turkey! he was strutting across the yard on Saturday morning.  But as soon as Kya hit the deck, the strut went sprint!

while outside, I noticed Khari has the shadow of a mustache.  he’s 13 on Monday.  a mustache shadow, REALLY?

my oldest son would DIE if his younger brother got a mustache first, wahaaha, I think it’s only be fair that he gets to be first at something, right?

I’m still cleaning house…

I rearranged the foyer, againYou have to click the befores..

Lantern, JoAnn’s…$30ish… and that was on sale.

This buffet was in the dining room, so free.

Subway art, Cheri’s…$7.

Don’t the fake flowers, say:

Hello!  Welcome!!  (to Casa de Crazies)

Yep, The home of the crazies.  Right here.

The flowers are old but I think I got them at Michael’s 50% off, of course.  Too bad I took them down, I thought they were premature for April.  They shall return in May ish when real life stuff starts to bloom.  Instead, I cut some shrub branches from the front yard and put them there instead.  Soooo, imagine greenness instead of yellow blooms.

Did you click on the befores, am I improving or what?  Imma trying, a woman’s work is never done…

P.S. Thanks for the comments on my earlier post, it did feel good to get that out.

Talk soon!

I'm an emotional mess.

I don't think I've ever shared how much of a crybaby I can be.
Sometimes, I'm really strong.
But when the waterworks start, sheesh, I can't stop them.
Today at work, this video was shared for inspiration.

Guess what I did.  Yep, I cried.

True story.  When I was a tween,  I spent a lot of my Summer days and weekends in the home of a close family friend, my Mom's best friend actually.  She would yell at everyone but me.  And one day, her kids said, "Mom. Why don't you yell at Staci" (my nickname, long story).  And she replied, "Because she will cry."

She'd be surprised at how good I've been doing over the years.  Especially when my kids are around, I can hold those tears in, cause I know that's what they need.  But other times, I'm an emotional mess.

My husband had to close his store.  And eventhough I know everything happens for a reason, I am an emotional mess.  Every little thing and I am in tears or choked up, same difference to me.  This happened in February but it's just catching up to me.

The funny thing is, the universe (aka GOD) keeps sending me inspiration every which way, for which I am truly grateful.  Because I do see the bigger picture, it's just a little blurry these days.

Thanks for dropping in.

I'm taking the Hubbs out to dinner tonite.

Kya is off on Holiday this week with Grandmom, and I wanted to tackle a project on my wish list.

He measured.
He sawed.
He glued.
He worried about me being pleased with the finished project. [what a bl**p I must be!].  It was sweet of him to care though.  I don't know how he puts up with me, honestly I don't.

$20 later.  Voila!!!

It really is the little things {don't get me wrong, diamonds are nice too} but the day to day support is what it is all about.  Well, that and the Hokey Pokey, ha!

Thanks for dropping in.  Half way to the weekend!

Speaking of weekends, doesn't this look like fun.  I wanna go!!!

Hello Beautiful.

That's what the emails from Oyin say.  Hello Beautiful, it is the sweetest introduction, always gets a smile outta me.

I bit the bulllet on Saturday and purchased yet another power cord for my PC.  I was toying with idea of buying this but cost trumped, it usually does. Something had to be done so I could BLOG (regularly again)!!!

fyi - I have been sloooow on the Lent purge, but I did make something pretty:

Inexpensive frame from Tarjay, $10

Fabric sample, $2 (Joann's)

Fabric is becoming my go to for decor inexpensive wall art.

Almost forgot, and this is pretty important: slimsuits are IN at Target and they are  ON SALE.  I got this one, I still need to try it on but I got a one piece last year and I luurrve it.  Cause if you have to be close that close to naked outside, you might as well feel good about how u look.

Ok that's it for me.  How bout you, how was your weekend? Any purging? and splurging? Or making things pretty?

k, Happy Monday and thanks for dropping in.
