Smell goods

Earlier in the Spring, I was searching for something a lil different in the scent department.

One of my close cousins was wearing this and I decided to copy.  dkny be deliciousimage

It’s ok, never made me wanna sang..I think it might go on ebay this weekend.

However, I must share these with you.  I get a compliment almost DAiLY from someone, the folks at Dunkin Donuts and coworkers.  They just really agree with me, maybe they will work with you too.

shea moisture black soap

Shea Moisture African Black Soap, Shea Butter Wash $10 available at Target

Both my husband and oldest son have used it too, so it’s family friendly.

jergens shea moisture

Jergens Shea Butter Lotion, it reminds me of a light cherry vanilla, very light and fresh. $6, everyone but my husband uses.  Family friendly.

And this one I don’t use everyday but it compliments the other two.

From the GAP, I should so be endorsed by GAP, I am a walking GAP, Target ad.  I need to get out more often.

Anyhoo, that’s what’s working for me.

Long weekend coming, yahoo!!! 2 outta 3 kids will be rolling with the MIL.  Holla if u hear me!! I luv the rascals, but I will be enjoying this time without the constant banter.

My weekend

It took 4 hours, 2 movies to twist the fro, but I’m done for a minute.  I’m hoping for 3 weeks.

That lamp shade never matched anything. so I painted it, with paint from around the house. FREE.

Loved the colors on that shirt, so I’m trying to make something happen on this canvas. it’s still in process.  Had all goods on hand. FREE.

Nothing is safe, I’ve been nesting.

cutting that flower from the fabric …snacking on JUMBO flower seeds. david’s brand is a childhood favorite.

Ripping up nasty carpet on stairs. FREE.

I was a busy bee, being productive and not spending.  Whut whut?  Impressive right.

Nothing was completed but my hair.  But these low to no spend weekends are good on the bottom line and around the house. BONUS!

NOW that’s how to kick @ss on a weekend and get ‘er done.

Look how you want me now.

As a woman, we love it when the girl wins. Yes?

My favorite movie standing for the last 2-3 years is Waitress.

Whenever, I need a boost.  I watch this movie.  Funny with drama, I just like it.  It can always draw a chuckle outta me, the accountant gets me every time.

Before Waitress it was Pretty Woman (for a good 8 years running), but Keri Russell trumped good ol’ Julia Roberts.

Now let’s not forget….Taraji Henson

taraji henson

Luv her.  Please ask her to star as me in my biography Television Mini Series.  Pretty Pretty Please.  She had me at Baby Boy, Jodie my Jodie.

Chile, right now, this Adele tune, makes me SANG.  I’m talking arms wailing in the car, eyes closed (at stop lights only), and volume PUMPED.

This is the 2011 Girls Self Motivation. Self Luv Anthem.

Adele – I Found a Boy

My favorite line is the hook/chorus/whatever u call it:

But I found a boy who I love more,
Than I ever did you before,
So stand beside ---- the river I cried,
And let yourself down!
Look how you want me now that I don't need you!

Every girl needs to know she’s got what it takes.  Sometimes she just needs reminding.. So go on, knock ‘em dead!

Happy Friday have a great weekend.

Meet Marimekko. I hope you weren’t thinking MariJane? ha!

Doesn’t it remind you of the fabric I chose, here.

Anyhoo.  You ever notice something you like, over and over again.

Shirt I made  for kya

So this rainy weekend, I wanted to change up the bathroom tray, and the update had only one requirement.  FREE.

So I used some acrylic paints to try my hand at Marimekko.

Because sometimes it’s just new to you.  All this time, I never knew what I liked had a name.

It was nice to finally meet you, Marimekko.

My own biggest critic

I was over reading Lakeitha today and she mentioned she was her own biggest critic and the words fit perfectly for how I was feeling.

All weekend I spray painted this lamp for my daughters room, but the paint would warp, bubble and drip.  I got so dern frustrated.

But then after I read Lakeitha today, I thought, would my daughter really care?  She’s 4?  It is for her  room right :/

[I can’t even photograph the “alleged” warps, bubbles and drips]

I also took this, from green and gold beauty.  From blah.

to black/white/beige polka dots.

it was originally $3.97 from the goodwill, this camera is really making me work for it.

All it took was spray paint and a piece of fabric.

I open the windows and basement door to work inside when its raining out.

my spray paint arsenal

In the end, I found numerous things wrong with it…the dots aren’t aligned straight…I scratched the frames paint job on the table putting the glass back in…the mat is sticking to the glass in some spots…the mat has wrinkle lines in it from where I ripped off the old picture.  blah blah blah

In the end, I am my own biggest critic.  It is a gift and a curse.  But I bet no one else really notices or even cares.  And seriously even if they do, so stinkin what, as long as I like it.

Moral of the story. Be like Nike and Just do it.

Hair: Curl Enhancing Smoothie

Oh look, a hair post!

Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie

The texture is thick & custardy

Organic, locally available, smells great, effective as a leave-in moisturizer.  I luv this stuff, price $9.99, a lil goes a long way

I only have one.  It’s an odd one.

When I put this stuff on my hair it doesn’t soften immediately.  I absolutely feel and see the difference it makes on my hair, because I’ve been using my hair gelly for so long I know the look & feel.  But since I began using this, it leaves my hair CONSIDERABLY softer in the braid out.  But I don’t feel the softness while I’m braiding?

I’ve been experimenting with the right amount of smoothie and gelly to get softness and hold.  Last week I did get just some white flakes on a few braids because I was heavy handed trying to FEEL the softness while braiding.  My hair still came out perfectly fine, and lasted 3-4 days in a braid out.

Right now I’m using Aubrey Organics conditioner (the one with the green top, review to come) and I’m not sure if changing this will make a difference?

All in All, you wanna know would I recommend to a bestie:

Yes Ma’am, I would.

Enjoy your Saturday Sweets.  I planned to walk again but it’s wet out, so I’m thinking about doing this instead

I made a salad with buffalo chicken tenders last night.

It was my first time with ranch as a dressing, not a dip.

Yummmmmmmm.  I kinda copied off something I saw at the work cafĂ©.

Grill cheese, Honey Nut Cheerios have been on the dinner menu more and more often round these parts, the weather is too nice to be inside cooking dinner.

Opened up my other bottle of vino, more yum.  Look how you can see the space ship says United States in the background but not the brand of wine up front?

This lens originally came with the camera as a bonus.

I obviously don’t know how to use it.  Yet.

It’s a zoom, not meant for close ups. booooo.

This is my dining room table for the past 2 weeks.

And the hubbs never complains.  Not sure I would be the same, (just being honest).

The black frame is not doing it for me. It is now mustard yellow,  not sure it’s working for me either.

Looks like another week on the dining room table.

Knowing what you like…

Can you guess what I luvd in this room?

How about in this picture?

Did you guess the colors?

Yes, but it’s the display.  The messiness of the art and the paint plate.  Luv it!

But the two legged lamp? no thank you.

My son made Goo in school last week and Kya just had to have some of her own.  So on Saturday (after my walk).  We had Science Class.  I supervised & photographed, but Master Khari was the teacher.

star pupil

there was reading

and measuring

and breakfast for some…

(Eventhough his older brother woke up, I wanted him to complete the project on his own.  He tends to lean when he has that option.)

Meet Goo.

All done.

Before noon.  It was a good day.

I received some SURPRISE HAPPY mail today.

I’ll give you hint…

It takes really good photographs.  Picture me, cheesing…cause I am!
