$79.52, and things running through my mind

That's how much it cost me to fill up, My Cuzin Vinnie (my Chevy Venture). Yikes!?!

Did anyone else forget about Pandora radio.  So glad I found it again. I luv designing my own channels, to fit my many moods, sometimes, Usher, sometimes Ms Badu, sometimes Chris Breezy, sometimes Maroon 5, sometimes Adele (did u know there were 2?).  I was looking for Adele (that did American Boy with Kanye) and found a new one and now I like her too.

They need a Pandora radio for the car!!!!

Lastly, can I introduce you to my newest lovers?

There's my LUVA in the bedroom..

Do you have a fleece in the boudoir - best thing EVER, always warm never cold, makes it so hard to get outta bed.  Why am I so slow at grasping the simplest of things?  The one photographed is from Lands End, but mine is a freebie from a giveaway but he works baby.

And of course my newest LUVA in the bathroom...

It's not organic, but the price is right and he smells so nice (soft coconut, not too sweet and lingering).  I am monitoring the chemicals in my products a bit more careful now, so hopefully this one gets to stay.  I've used it 2x-3x as a leave-in and it works to soften (IT IS RIDICULOUS) for both me and my daughter.  $5 at Target/Walmart  and no s&h.

Hope all is well and everyone is getting their toesies ready for sandals!  Until next time.

Come Clean

Most of us don’t realize that the products we use every day can expose us to thousands of chemicals that are readily absorbed through our skin. The impact on your health? It’s not pretty.

no more dirty looks

This book/site covers no-poo, sulfate-free shampoos, conditioners: high-end, low-end; and make up too!  Much of this I already know but I like having a new resource, as they can hip you to new products, new trends, new facts.

I want the book now, (of course) and at under $10, I will be ordering it sooner than later.

This is the swift GO organic kick I need!  Their message is clean and matter of fact – without pointing a finger and being scary.  Baby steps, that’s how I roll.

So, the Hubbs ordered an A.D.D. video he saw on PBS (he’s self diagnosed).

He asked me to watch the video with him and this was what he took away – he asked me to make him a reminder, hence the image.

Oddly enough, this was the one line that stuck with me as well.

I always thought it was the other way around that Inspiration leads to action.  I was so wrong.  I read inspiring blogs almost daily and don’t act on them nearly that often.  But what if I did a lil more action?  More inspiration? Perhaps!

So let this be a lesson, you have to make things happen!  Can’t just be sitting around pretty and inspired.  Where’s that gonna getcha?

And please understand, I only make fun of the Hubbs self-diagnosed A.D.D. not genuine patients.  You see, his A.D.D. kicks in when he has to do not so fun stuff, like our taxes, paperwork, cleaning, you know important grown up stuff.  God luv him.

In other news, I read this ACTION INSPIRING REAL LIFE STORY, here: I gots some thinking to do.  Do you want to quit your day job too?  I’m soooo over the office.

My house is really quiet right now – fa-reaking me out!

Thanks for reading – BE INSPIRED! no BE ACTIVE! yea that!

Spring Forward Sunday

You did spring your clock forward one hour today, yes?

This morning, I had to visit Target Pharmacy pretty early - for the Pink stuff.

My sweetest Little has strep. It could be worse, I’m so NOT complaining.

While waiting for her script to be filled, I toured the facility…and found this:now at my target

At my very own Target.  Yay!  It’s not the hairline, it’s the body line, but Spring is upon us so it’s perfect timing!

It wasn’t on “the list’ so I didn’t buy any of the products (today).  But ‘er um…I smelled them and they are now on the WishList.

I would luv a new scent for Spring/Summer and the Coconut Hibiscus body wash will be my first try.  If all goes well, I will grab the lotion too.  Do you recall my last Shea Moisture lotion purchase did not turn out too well. Duh me.

I must ask, do you switch ur scent with the season?

I’m all about cool, crisp, lite florals in the Spring/Summer.

Not to mention…the dreaded shaving.

Mo, I luv u baby, WORK IT!

And being completely honest, I only shave quarterly in the winter, but I’m on my job in the Spring/Summer (mostly).

I must know – are you a serious shaver?  Cause heaven knows it is a task I hate and perform weekly at best.  My friend Myn says she’s a daily shaver, what the?

15 years ago – yesterday

I became a Mom.

to this intelligent, witty, stubborn, funny, lazy, handsome, attentive young man.

He is the first born grand for all his grandparents, so he is nicknamed Alpha.  And also Kwaku – Ghanaian for born on a Wednesday (we are not Ghanaian, but we have peeps)

We measured him last night and this boy young man is 5’9’’ and weighs just over a 100lbs, string bean!

I told him he could choose dinner.  His choice: Lobster, told y’all  he was funny :)

The hardest part about being a parent, balance.   I want to deliver them all my 38 years of experience, NOW, so they can learn from my mistakes.  But timing is important too.  I’ll just keep talking…and prayin it will sink in :)

here it is again***********************************************************************************************************************ha ha

In other news, I finally got my hands on some of this:

what’s the big deal people? I used it yesterday on Boopa and myself.  No major luv here.  I used it as a leave-in, but on clean dry tresses.  Is that wrong?  How do you use it? Why is it the Holy Grail, help me, luv it.  Do tell.

Ahem.  Did you notice my basket of hair goodness?  Take a closer looksy.

hair basket

This basket is looking a lil small but you get the picture, right?

You put everything you need in a basket - bin whatever, just something to keep the goods together….then you go plop down on the sofa and style your hair while you watch the TV.  It is the best idea, no looking for clips, rubberbands, bigger clips, oil, moisturizers, combs, brushes….It’s all right at your fingertips!  NO need to get up, luv that!

And when you’re done, throw it all back in – and shove it under the bed, in a closet, wherever, who cares, as long as the basket of hair goodness is kept together.  Genius I say, you should try it.

And Easter’s coming there will be tons of cute baskets on sale soon.  Plus the dollartree has some nice ones too.  SCORE!

Another point for me, but who’s counting.

Blog Crush.

Awhile back I wrote a post titled Amen, with the quote “the pretty pretty is not real life” from Meg but I never took the time to actually click around the blog, I just really liked that post, that day.

playroom at megs

Then shortly after that, I was reading a home blog that linked back to that same blog!  So I browsed around and fell for it.  And now I’m crushing….in a happy for her, not jealous kinda way, of course :)

I like the colors, the writing style, her passion for photography, her honesty about parenting, I’m digging the way she can be so personal without putting her family at risk (since we know how folks can talk), plus she’s been to Africa and luvd it!

You should also read her luv story touched my lil heart….it is not what you think, cause I am not the mushy type.  At all.  It’s about imperfect luv.  It’s sweet and genuine and close to home.  I liked it, reminds you how forgiving and loving your God is.  Whatever you choose to call him.

I also learned this trick from her:

that line of stars, she uses it to break up topics in one post, umm yea, expect to see it more often. Liiiiiike now!

So not one single comment for Oyin?  Good thing I don’t take myself too seriously, or my feelings wouldda been a hurtin for certain.

I did get that other package, maybe we’ll try some happy mail another time.

I made this little winter flower and attached it to a bobby pin, been wearing it in the tresses, Luv it!

I’m also luvn cardigans, who knew they could finish your outfit and give it a polished look?  Not to mention they help you wear cute short sleeve tops in the Winter.  BONUS!  I am looking to buy a few more to compliment my skirts that I never wear cause I can never find the perfect top for work to be warm indoors and cool outside, CARDIGANS, duh!…I think they will be the perfect addition.

Lastly, here is my baby girl, this red jacket from her Auntie on her 3rd bday is getting small :(

She will only be able to wear it this year, so I wanted to be sure and get a photo of her in it… for the record .  You know so she can say, ‘MOM what was I wearing?” and I can say, “Gurl you were sharp!”  I’ve heard that one A million times!

Hope all is well for you.  Lata skatas.
