Cartoon me

Earlier this month, I went to Cartoonme.com and loaded up this photo.

They turned it into this:

The loose twists were interpreted into a bomb short cut, LUVIT!!!!  All for the low low price $3.50 Euro well that’s $4.37 in dollars (according to my paypal account)

So worth it. I can’t wait to get a good twist out pic in the fall (why is it so difficult to like a picture of yourself?)

Let me know if you try it.

P.S. The Hubbs and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary on Wednesday (don’t do the math, we did everything @ss backwards) and I will be posting our not-so-sappy luv story.

“How did you…

get your hair like that?”

Are they not the sweetest words you wanna hear?  Even better than, “Your hair looks nice,”  as imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Yesternite, I went to a fundraiser bowling party,  I was rocking my 6 day old Eco-Wash-n-Go pushed back with a headband when a High School friend asked “How do I get my hair like that?”

I was pleased as punch!  I prolly blushed.  Is that even possible on brown skin? Anyhoo, I unloaded the wash-n-go 411, then she asked about twistouts too. WHAT!? You want more!  I was excited to share my natural tips, I even followed up with an email today.

So go on, RocK those CurLS GuRLs!

The world is watching and cheering for your success.

P.S.  Maybe I should get some calling cards for the ol’ blog, huh.

Word on the street…

Is Eco styler with olive oil!

A big ol’ tub is only $4 at the local beauty store.  So long Kinky Curly.

clip_image003

That’s the infamous mirror shot, I know, so lame.  One day there will be a tripod for me..one day.

Anyhoo. Here’s a lil’ work I’ve been putting in at the crib.

clip_image005

Nothing fancy. It’s a dresser in our hallway.

I have plans to one day paint it and distress it like these girls talk about.  Maybe change the knobs too.

This was on it before, books and clutter.

clip_image007

Originally, I put the junk in a laundry basket.

But my son needed the basket.

So the clutter went on the floor.

Anyhoo. It brought me some peace for a bit.

That quote is on a greeting card I bought and never gave away. I put it in a frame, I wasn’t using. And now it looking all fancy like (to me).

It made a small difference in the hallway, that little thing.  Those books are going in the basement to be sorted for Goodwill.

I’m gonna go clean them now, 48 hours later, can’t have yall judgin me.

Oh, here’s the real life part:

Who writes on furniture?

Damn kids.

Let’s talk butters

In an older post, I talked about how I remixed my AfroVeda Shea-Amla Whipped Butter Cream. Remember, it looks like this:

clip_image002

This is too light for my daughter’s hair. Her hair is dry and likes lots of oil & butters.

Here is what I have been using for her hair lately, chunky buttah.

clip_image004

clip_image006

It’s thick and heavy. It’s very moisturizing for her hair but it does not keep the frizz away. By Day 4 in her braids, I’m irked by the fuzzies.

So Sunday, I decided to try a lil’ of Moe’s Magic.

clip_image008

I took a lil bit of the Thick and Chunky Buttah and squeezed in some Aloe Vera until I liked the consistency. I whisked it around working the AVG in with a fork. I sure did.

And looky looky:

clip_image010

Moe’s trick must be to cream the butter and oils first, and the aloe last. Chunky Buttah no more. It is very light and feels less greasy. So different from the Shea-Amla mix.

Even though I started with a heavy mix of Only God Knows What, adding the aloe at the end made a huge difference. The texture reminds me of Bee Mine.

I will check back on Monday and report if it keeps away the frizz.  If it’s the same (or better), I will do this to the rest of the chunky buttah I have left. It’s feels so gentle on your hands.

So there you have it, 3 different butters.

P.S. I apologize that there are no measurements, I have a crap load of the chunky butter to get thru. When I start a new batch, I will measure and give the step by step folks. Promise.
